Basic Emergency Needs Programs

Hope helps meet emergency and basic needs through several programs and services. All of these programs are housed at:

Monday - Friday
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Wash with Care
Low-income families can wash their clothes by appointment in a free laundry facility housed at Hope Center. We will also provide laundry soap, although availability of laundry soap is dependent on donations. There are six washers and eight dryers with a playroom for pre-school children adjacent to the laundry room. Usually two families do laundry each morning, and two each afternoon. Participants are also encouraged to take advantage of the health information and parenting support available at Hope Center.

  Call Hope Center (734) 484-2989 to schedule a time to do laundry or to find out about parenting classes.
• To donate soap:
  Donations of powdered laundry detergent are always welcome. Find more information on how to organize a collection.

Care & Share Closet
The Care & Share Closet provides basic necessities not available with Food Stamps such as toilet paper, soap, deodorant, shampoo, cleaning supplies, and a limited number of household goods. Because contents of the Closet depends almost entirely on donations, availability of items varies. Individuals and families may request supplies from the Closet once every two months and receive up to six items at a time.

• To get help:
  Visit Hope Center and fill out a form requesting needed items.
• To help:
  Drop off your donations during normal business hours or call Hope Center at 734-484-2989 to make other arrangements. Find more information on how to organize a collection.

Financial Assistance
Hope has access to limited funds to help prevent evictions, utility shut-offs and other essential emergency needs. Most of the funds for helping with these needs comes from specific donations from churches and individuals. Hope Clinic as a last resort for financial assistance and apply to other agencies first.

  Before applying to Hope for financial assistance you must first apply to other area agencies. Call Hope Center at 734-484-2989 for a list of agencies and their contact information.
• To help with financial needs:
  If you are an individual or church who would like to help others when they have emergency financial needs contact Hope Center at 734-484-2989 to work out payment arrangements.
