From its very beginnings, Hope's vision has been to be an outreach of the whole Body of Christ. We are not affiliated with any particular congregation or denomination but welcome the partnership of all Christians. More than 60 local churches have provided financial, spiritual and volunteer support over the years. Our church partners are invaluable to the work of Hope and we are always interested in expanding our network of partner churches. Listed below are just a few examples of ways that churches have been involved with Hope in the past.
Invite us to speak at a church function. Hope has a Speakers Bureau that is available to come to functions, speak about Hope and answer any questions that a congregation or group might have.
Collect laundry soap, food, or dental items. Many churches regularly collect items for Hope.
Encourage church members to volunteer at Hope. We depend on volunteers to help us in all our ministries. Some churches have done mailings to specific "target groups" providing information on Hope and encouraging them to volunteer.
Broadcast current Hope needs to the church community. We email and fax our needs on a regular basis to churches in the area. If your church is willing to include information from Hope in their bulletin or newsletter or in other ways let the congregation know how to get involved, contact Connie at (734) 484-2989, ext 302 or challom@thehopeclinic.org.
Pray and intercede. We depend on prayer to help us follow the direction that God has for us. If your church is willing to include Hope and the needs of our clients in your intercessory times contact Jean Horak.
Adopt a meal. A group within the church can "host" one of the free meals that Hope provides at the Ypsilanti Salvation Army building on Satrudays and Sundays. This involves getting volunteers to cook, serve and clean up after a meal and to provide a spiritual message or a musical program during the meal.
Hold fund raising events. Hope could be the designated recipient for either an existing church fundraiser or an event specifically planned to benefit Hope.
Encourage people to donate money to Hope. Hold a special collection to benefit Hope or put out jars for people to put in "pocket change". We are happy to provide ideas for collections and materials to help.
